Dominik Holzer, AEC Connect, Melbourne

Dr Dominik Holzer is a Design Technology specialist who works with a great number of stakeholders within the Design/Construction and FM industries. His expertise lies in the application of high-end technology and collaborative processes for the intelligent management of information across the supply chain and the life-cycle of projects. He applies his knowledge as a consultant via AEC Connect where he advises architects, engineers, contractors, client representatives, as well as educational institutions on strategies for implementing Design Technology (such as BIM) within their organisation and training programs.  

Next to numerous publications in industry and academic journals, Dominik has published the 'BIM Manager's Handbook" in 2016; he currently works on his second book titled: Design Technology in Contemporary Practice (due to be published in 2020).


John Schmidt, Brown Falconer, Adelaide

John has over 20 years’ experience in architecture and has been a BIM Manager/ Coordinator for the last 11. Working in both large and small firms in Adelaide and in the Republic of Ireland has given him some insight into the issues facing the industry at those scales and locations.

John has previously been the BIM Coordinator for the architectural arm of a large international multidiscipline company delivering large projects across multiple locations. Now changing speed and focusing more on local issues, John has joined the Brown Falconer team working hard to deliver a variety of projects in Education, Sports and recreation, Health and Accommodation sectors in South Australia.

Gert Van Aswegen, Fulton Hogan, Adelaide

Gert van Aswegen is Fulton Hogan’s National Digital Engineering Manager responsible for spearheading the company’s diversification into this area. Realising the potential for this type of technology within Fulton Hogan’s business, Gert has built up a team of in-house digital engineering experts, nationally, and developed relationships externally with subject matter experts.  

 With more than 20 years’ experience in civil and structural engineering, Gert brings considerable 3D/4D design, constructability and costing experience to the company’s construction and utilities business units, especially with regard to road, bridge and water planning. Noteworthy BIM experience includes the $300M Calvary Hospital expansion and $2B New Royal Adelaide Hospital.
